During the storm it will be lit with an energy beam in the middle. Go to the 13th basement and find the reactor. A3 has 3 floors, 11, 12 and 13th basement. Keep your gas mask at all times inside A3, and use your NVG or any light source. Go to the bridge like structure and sprint/jump into the orb. As you approach, you will see blue/white smoke, that's your queue to start wearing your gas mask.Once a storm is starting, activate the console, and sprint to Athena-1. So use the Muon Detector to get notification as early as possible. A prompt to activate it by pressing F will become available only if an EVR storm is coming. It is the console facing the big reactor itself. The console to activate it will be in the control room on 3rd basement. A2 is completely dark and require NVG or flashlights. Go to Athena-2 to activate the FLAX Reactor. It is never a guaranteed loot, especially if people take them often, but they respawn fast and can spawn multiple. At A2, the module should be at 2nd basement. The module should be on the "second" floor. It is the only Tier 4 building on the map and has 2 high and exposed sets of stairs visible from the outside. The module, at ARI, will be on the West most building. ARI has a lot more military gear though, but is also camped more due to that same reason. I suggest going directly to A2 since it is the next quest location anyway. Go to either Athena Research Institue or Athena-2 to find a Lantia Pulsar Locator Module.Combat gas mask are found on military loot, normal gas mask are found in hospitals and military and gas mask filters are found in industrial loot tier 2+. Otherwise, 2 filters should also be enough. 12min should be just enough if you are quick. Don't wear them until you need to, otherwise they deplete slowly. Others require gas mask filters that last 8 minute each. The combat gas mask last 12min but can't be refilled. The submarine and the TF Bering Outpost (North West corner on the ice) are the only place you can find NVG, which is very useful, as A2 and A3 are completely dark. Some clothing works, mainly firemen, raincoat, sumrack and yeger. Dry and hunter backpack are the only good backpacks. PUT THOSE IN BACKPACK OR CLOTHES OF 49% ABSORBENCY MAX. That's 12 sticks + 8 barks if you want to create hand drill kits. So bring at the very least 8 short sticks + 4 barks + things to start 4 fires. Wring your clothes and drop them near the fire to dry. 2 short sticks is enough for the heat buff + dry clothes. You should only have to swim twice if you are a bit careful with pathing to reach it. Unless there is a storm, you will see the top of the submarine when approaching. Start from Nemsk or close to it, and go East North-East or 60 degree on the compass.
